Today my dad, nephew Xander, Arya, and I went to the farmer's market.  They had a Halloween theme, mostly costumes and candy for the kids. I got a full bushel of apples and a jar of pumpkin butter:-)  Will be trying some apple recipes for a party later this week--will post how the concoctions turn out :-)

Barely 2 weeks apart

They both made appearances (and kinda stole the show, mostly) at the kids' halloween party

No costumes though--it's hard enough to find regular clothes to fit these miniature munchkins

Before the party, (where like 6 kids and 3 adults dressed up lol), Arya went to her 1st corn maze and on her first hay rack ride!
I think she slept the whole time (it was good, chilly weather and easy bouncing lol) :-D

Healing

I have never been one for being stuck in a house for days on end.  These cold, cloudy days make it A-okay.  I can stay inside and heal in peace with a cup of tea.
Give me another week-ish, and I can get out with my new baby in my new jogger--in the cold, cloudy weather!
I am so ready for winter!

New Adventures

It's been a while since I've written...
This is mostly due to the craziness of this year--a good crazy.

In brief: I moved back to the States, am learning about life with my love, and have added a third little one to our equation: Arya.  She was born October 10.  I'll post pictures soon--we're still getting our formal announcement together :-)  She's such a cute bundle of joy, and a little hog when it comes to feeding time, which is any time she isn't passed out. LOL

I have a second blog I started about my experience being pregnant in another country.
I'll keep this blog up for a while.  I got sidetracked from that blog as well because of the end of the school year and move back to the States.  I will go back and fill in details.  Feel free to track that blog as well.

Glue Sucks

Really.
I had the perfect art project.
The kids were really into it.
They were quiet, listened to directions, followed directions, were excited about what they were doing.
Did their best to do a good job.
Even the ESL kids, not just my 2nd graders!!
And what happens???
The glue doesn't stick.
What happens now???
The two sides of the cardboard paper are different material...substance...whatever.
I knew it would take some holding by the kids to get the thick paper to stay in place long enough for the glue to dry.
But no such luck
Grass Green side doesn't like Shiny Green side.
At all.
On top of it, I lost my huge bottle of Elmers white glue.
Sometime between first ESL class Tuesday and second ESL class Thursday.
Teacher/kids in first class swear that it's not in their classroom.  And I thought I remembered taking it out.
But nowhere on/around my office desk.
Nowhere in 2nd grade classroom.
Kids stick/slimy glue I think just doesn't hold well enough.
Made for common writing/printer/thin art paper.
Staplers it is.
But how to staple a hat together with this design?
With talent, my dear, talent.
And still, it turns into more of a bowler's hat than a leperchaun's.
Oh well, we tried.

fairly shocked when i looked at this listed sometime last semester

also somewhat shocked at the update for 2011

i guess they update every year, which is nice

however...even though i technically live in a 3rd world country (which watching how life is changing here, will beg to differ within the next decade), it would be cheaper to live with my older sister in memphis, tn, than here.

though not listed, guaranteed even cheaper where parents and younger sister live-as that city is considered to be the 'cheapest' big city in tn.

interesting.

now.  this is for expatriates.  which means they're also guessing at products the expatriate would want to purchase that would be from the home country.

so, if i'm in my home country (purchasing asian products, which are notoriously cheap in the states) would it make my cost of living even cheaper?
